Many people who try EFT have good results to start, but only take it just so far. I liken this to exercise. How many people have exercise equipment at home, gathering dust? For some of us, a serious commitment to getting in shape means joining a gym or exercise class, or even hiring a personal trainer. Why? Because of inertia. Deep down we just want to keep everything the same, stay in our 'comfort zone', even if it's not very comfortable. And we’re all masters of distraction, especially when it comes to changing subconscious patterns.
A good practitioner will help you quickly resolve issues you might never even begin to tackle on your own.
Also, a skilled practitioner can often see your issues more clearly than you can yourself. I pay close attention to subtle shifts in your breathing, the movement of your eyes, your body language, the emotional intensity of your voice—all this information helps me zero in on what’s really going on deep down, to make the really big changes. Most importantly, I trust my intution and spiritual guidance when doing session work!
Obviously this depends on what you want to accomplish. A simple phobia, or a specific traumatic memory can usually be resolved very quickly—possibly in one session. Resolving a painful breakup might have a number of aspects to deal with and could take four or five sessions, maybe more. Most of my clients are free of their issues between one and seven sessions.
Some people have a great many traumatic memories, sometimes hidden, and often forming the basis of a toxic self-image, or self-sabotaging behaviors. This might take a bit longer to sort out, especially if there is a lot of “detective work” required.
But the good news is that with EFT is that is doesn't matter how "intense" your issue is, or how long you've suffered from it, you can still expect rapid results. Even if you have a mountain of issues, you are likely to begin feeling better right away.
If you are tuned into the problem at all, then the disruption in your energy system can be tapped away. Aside from an assessment of the emotional intensity, I don't need to know anything about it. This is one of the things that makes EFT unique.
If a client simply does not want to verbalize their problem then I can use other techniques such as QCS or Reconnective Healing to ease them out of pain towards the transformation they seek.
When I begin working with a client I ask what the major issues are they’d like to overcome, and get just enough background information to begin. If my client is nervous about the session we’ll spend a few minutes clearing that away first.
Unlike traditional “talk therapy” it isn’t necessary for me to do a lengthy history intake. We can get right to work! And as specific memories or feelings are cleared, we may get deeper into resolving underlying issues.
I will usually stop to tap whenever your emotional intensity begins to spike, and this tends to keep the session pretty upbeat, even if we’re dealing with very heavy issues. The experience of having one’s darkest feelings quickly vanish is a little strange at first. It’s an unfamiliar sensation, but an inherently wonderful process. Clients usually leave my office in a very good mood, even if they came in crying.
"Spiritual progress is like detoxification. Things have to come up in order to be released. Once we have asked to be healed, then our unhealed places are forced to the surface."

TESTIMONY
Working with Vanessa cleared trauma from a sexual assault 20 years ago and saved my marriage! Not only did my relationship with my husband improve dramatically but I was surprised to be able to be out at night without panic attacks. She helped me clear the real core issue - anger at myself - in a 30 minute session. Forever grateful!
